Pumpkin Recipes from Osteopathy Suffolk
Once upon a pumpkin…..
Halloween marks the start of Autumn, warm fires, colder nights, horror movies and pumpkin carving means plenty of pumpkin to make some delicious treats with.
Here in beautiful Suffolk we are so lucky to have some amazing locations for picking your own pumpkins. We have Witchpit Farm in Woodbridge, Pumpkin Jim’s in Saffron Walden & The Pumpkin Barn in Eye.
For a bit of fun for Halloween we’ve put together our favourite pumpkin inspired recipes for our patient’s to try at home with their families, we hope you love them as much as we do!
Recipes:
Pumpkin Vodka
1 litre vodka
200g sugar
250g pumpkin – roasted
3 vanilla pods
4 cloves – whole
2 cinnamon sticks
1/4 nutmeg – whole
15g fresh ginger – chopped
Roast the pumpkin
Place all ingredients in a sterile jar
Store for 2-3 weeks in a cool, dark place
Give it a little swirl every couple days
Strain through a cheese cloth
Pour into a bottle and refrigerate
Pumpkin pie:
400g pumpkin
12floz evaporated milk
120g brown sugar
80g caster sugar
1/2 tea spoon salt
2 whole eggs
2 egg yolks
2tsp ground cinnamon
1tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 zest lemon
20g dark chocolate
80g milk chocolate
Mix the eggs and caster sugar
Boil the brown sugar, milk, spices and lemon zest
Pour the hot mixture on the chocolate and blend together
Blend the hot milk and chocolate mix into the eggs and sugar
Finally blend in the cooked pumpkin
Pour into a pastry case
Bake at 150c until just set, should take about 20-30mins
